The District Administration and Regional Transport Authority (RTA) have established the speed limit for all city roads. GMDA has initiated a project, valued at Rs 17.6 million, to install signboards at approximately 300-meter intervals, in accordance with the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRT&H) and Public Works Department (PWD) specifications, as well as the latest applicable IRC codes. These signboards aim to inform commuters of the designated speed limits, promoting adherence to safe driving practices. Additionally, they will assist the traffic police department in identifying instances of over-speeding. The speed limits have been carefully determined considering the city's road infrastructure and vehicular traffic to ensure safety. RD Singhal, General Manager of the Mobility Division at GMDA, stated, The District Road Safety Committee has established speed limits for all road infrastructure in Gurugram, including National and State Highways, as well as master and internal roads. GMDA, in line with Administration directives, will install speed limit signboards along all GMDA arterial roads in Gurugram, contributing to enhanced road safety. We have already initiated the tender process for this project. Moreover, GMDA has recently implemented measures to control speed by installing thermoplastic rumble strips in various underpasses within the city where high-speed vehicle movement was observed.
