The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has issued a tender for the enhancement of four crucial arterial roads, aiming to improve connectivity to new sectors from the Dwarka Expressway. This project entails the reconstruction of the existing six-lane main carriageways, including footpaths and drainage networks. Additionally, it involves the construction of slip roads, central verges, road safety infrastructure, and junction revamping.The ambitious project is set to be completed within nine months after the task is awarded and is estimated to cost the development authority approximately Rs 535 million. Each 2km-long dividing road connecting sectors 102 and 102A, 106 and 109, 102A and 103, 106 and 103 will undergo strengthening and upgrading.A senior GMDA official stated, We have invited bids, and the tendering process will take around two months. Another nine months will be required for the completion of the project. Once finished, it will boost road connectivity to Dwarka Expressway.The project was discussed during the CPC meeting in June, and approval was granted for the revamp of five roads to enhance road infrastructure in the new sectors along the Dwarka Expressway. However, the improvement plan for the 700-meter master road of Sector 114 has been temporarily put on hold due to limited habitation and minimal traffic in the area.Many of these roads were last constructed by the erstwhile HUDA (now HSVP) in 2014 and were transferred to GMDA in 2018. Over the years, these stretches have deteriorated significantly, with numerous potholes, craters, and uneven surfaces due to the lack of periodic maintenance.Local residents, who have faced commuting challenges on these roads, have welcomed the decision. They have expressed hopes for timely and high-quality work delivery, emphasising the need to address potholes, dust, and inadequate street lighting for improved road conditions.
