Govt to Tender 3K E-Buses under PM EBUS SEWA Plan

The government of India is set to float tenders for the procurement of 3,000 electric buses (e-buses) under the Prime Minister's EBUS SEWA (Sustainable Electric-Driven Public Transport) plan by next week. The move is a significant step towards promoting sustainable public transportation and reducing carbon emissions.

According to government sources, the tender process will be initiated by the Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises. The ministry will invite bids from bus manufacturers, encouraging them to participate and provide technologically advanced and environment-friendly e-buses.

The Prime Minister's EBUS SEWA plan aims to replace conventional fuel-based public transport vehicles with electric vehicles, thereby significantly reducing air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions. This initiative also aligns with the government's ambitious target to achieve 30% e-mobility in public transport by 2030.
