GPS tracking for oxygen containers is mandatory: MoRTH

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has made it mandatory to ensure the proper monitoring and security of oxygen tanks so that they reach their destinations without any disruption or delay.

In a tweet, MoRTH said that they have made it mandatory that oxygen containers/tanks/vehicles should have Vehicle Location Tracking devices on them so that they can be monitored and ensure the protection of these tanks. Besides, the GPS device will also make sure that there is no delay or diversion in their delivery.

India is struggling a lot in the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic and has more than 3,00,000 new cases per day, as reported a few days back. Hospitals in many states are under shortage of medical oxygen and beds for COVID patients. India's total number of COVID-19 cases has crossed 20 million with 5 million infections recorded in just 15 days.

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare informed that the total tally of COVID-19 cases in the country has reached around 2.03 crore along with 3,57,229 new infection cases reported per day and the death toll has increased to 2,22,408 with a total of 3,449 new fatalities.
