It was reported that under the erection span P8-P9 of the flyover, which is a part of the Shiv Murti interchange on the Dwarka Expressway, had toppled around 9:30 AM on June 14. It was mentioned that a team of NHAI officers, Authority Engineer, and Bridge Experts had immediately rushed to the site. It was stated that the span had been in the process of being erected and reportedly was resting on temporary stools and hydraulic jacks. The span had been pre-stressed on June 2, 2023. The construction work on this flyover had begun with the diversion of NH-48 traffic on March 18, for a duration of 90 days. During this period, a total of 13 spans had been erected. Based on the site reports, it was stated that prima facie, the incident appeared to be a case of mechanical failure, as the structural elements of both the superstructure and substructure were in sound condition. In order to determine the reasons behind the incident, a three-member team of Bridge Experts had been formed. It was mentioned that two members of the team were already inspecting the site, and the third member would arrive at the site the following morning. The committee would thoroughly examine all the issues and submit a detailed report within four weeks.
