Under the India-China Border Roads (ICBR-III) program, the Union government intends to construct 37 additional roads totaling 875 km in length along the India-China border at an estimated cost of Rs 130 billion. Arunachal Pradesh will host the construction of almost 70% of these highways. At a cost of Rs 16 billion, the continuing phases I and II of the ICBR seek to build 1,435 km of roads in Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Sikkim, and Arunachal Pradesh. After a highly influential meeting to discuss the problems delaying the program's current two phases, the ICBR-III program was recently launched. The development of 22 roads under ICBR-III that already have starting points is given priority in the proposal, however the starting places for the remaining lengths won't be ready until the ongoing projects are finished. The concerned organisations, which include BRO, CPWD, ITBP, and NHIDCL, have been given instructions to expedite the process of awarding new contracts and completing ongoing projects as soon as possible.
