Indore civic body collaborates with IDA to develop road for ISBT

Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) has collaborated with the Indore Development Authority (IDA) for constructing a road from the Banganga railway crossing to the MR-10 Inter-State Bus Terminus (ISBT) to improve connectivity.

On Monday, a foundation stone was laid by MP Shankar Lalwani for road construction.

Municipal commissioner Pratibha Pal told the media that the road would be constructed for 1.7 km and would be a 30-metre-wide, six-lane road. The cost of constructing the road will be almost Rs 21 crore 52 lakh.

Lalwani said that, during the last Simhastha, it was seen that there was a lot of stress on vehicles travelling from Indore to Ujjain on this road. After discussions with officials from various departments, it was decided to build the road. The road will be constructed as per the master plan.

He said the development of the road overbridge (ROB) at the Banganga railway crossing would also begin soon so that traffic would be smooth on the road.

IDA chairman Chavda said this road would help link the three railway stations and three bus stands. It will deliver a convenient and better route to Ujjain.

The cost of the road construction work will be done from the amount obtained from the Indore Development Authority. Along with the development of the road, the work on the retaining wall, lighting, electric pole shifting, median centre, footpath construction, and so forth will be done.

MLA Ramesh Mendola was also attending the programme. He said that, for the road construction, the locals there would be moved to another place. The construction of this road would ease travelling from the city centre to outside the city.
