Defence Minister Rajnath Singh effectively opened the double-lane Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri route that connects the Ladakh area with Jammu and Kashmir. The Siyom Bridge and 27 other infrastructure projects, which were carried out by the Border Road Organization (BRO), were virtually inaugurated by the Defence Minister while he was in Arunachal Pradesh. In seven border states/union territories of the Northern and North-Eastern regions, the projects include 22 bridges, including the Siyom bridge, three roads, and three additional projects. Ladakh has eight of these projects, Arunachal Pradesh has five, Jammu & Kashmir has four, Sikkim has three, Punjab has three, Uttarakhand has three, and Rajasthan has two. In addition to this three telemedicine nodes were launched, with two in Ladakh and one in Mizoram. The Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri road was one of the 28 infrastructure projects that Rajnath Singh virtually inaugurated before Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal Shyambir officially opened it in the district's Hari Pora village in front of Brigadier Saket Singh, the Chief Engineer of BRO Kashmir, and other BRO, army, and district administration representatives. The BRO made the necessary preparations to observe the virtual conference there. The SSG road is a crucial route that affects Ladakh's population on both a social and economic level because of their reliance on it for daily logistics and basic necessities. On this occasion, Brigadier Saket described the project in detail and paid respects to BRO personnel who lost their life while working on the project.
