In four of the eight private colonies it took control of five months ago, MCG has prepared estimates to fix the inadequate infrastructure. After conducting a new survey on the ground following the takeover, it has made the estimates, which will now be forwarded to the state government for final approval. The highest estimate, according to officials, is for Vipul World, where a total of Rs 82.2 million is needed to finish incomplete infrastructural work like the laying of road, water, and sewer networks. Malibu Towne's inadequate infrastructure is expected to cost around Rs 80 million to complete, which will include upgrading water and sewer lines in addition to re-carpeting and repairing roads. According to the latest survey, Rosewood City will spend an estimated Rs 18 million on the colony's roads being recarpeted. The project has already been put out to bid. An estimate of Rs 9 million has been made for the recarpeting of the roads in Uppal Southend. “We have made new estimates to complete the deficient infrastructure in some colonies recently taken over. Our consultant have made the new estimates on the basis of current requirements in these colonies. After approval of the estimates, tenders will be floated and work orders will be issued to complete works. We are soon going to start the work,� a senior MCG official said. Four additional private colonies, including Sushant Lok - 2 and 3, Ardee City, and Greenwood City, have been taken over by the civic body. Despite the department of town and country planning's explicit instructions, the acquisition of Mayfield Gardens is still pending (DTCP). The estimated cost to complete the inadequate infrastructure is Rs 147 million for Malibu Town, Rs 89 million for Vipul World, Rs 45 million for Rosewood City, and Rs 36 million for Uppal Southend, according to a DTCP order issued on May 9. However, MCG created the new estimates using data from a brand-new survey. While Manohar Lal Khattar was in Gurgaon, a delegation of the residents met with him and brought up the issue of incomplete infrastructure work in the recently seized colonies. “Without the execution of the deficiency project report, how do we expect infrastructure upgrade in these colonies? There are issues related to water and sewer lines and our roads are in bad shape. Residents had high expectations from MCG after the takeover but the entire process has been slowed down. We raised the issue with the CM and have also discussed it with the deputy commissioner,� said Gauri Sarin, the convener of Making Model Gurugram, a citizens� group.
