Nagpur has received Rs 1,824 crore from the Central Roads Fund (CRF) for various roads. In the last seven years of the BJP-led NDA government in Maharashtra, the minister has managed to bring in total CRF funds of Rs 9,897 crore for 584 projects. 201 projects have been completed so far. The city MP told the media Nagpur has received the highest amount of funds from the centre for 22 projects in various areas, totalling Rs 1,824 crore. According to details shared by the minister's advisor, former PWD chief engineer Balasaheb Theng, four projects have been completed and 11 are nearing completion. While the rest of the works were being completed, five tenders were floated. Concretisation of the ever-bustling road from Jaistambh Square to Manas Square, which is 3.63 km long, was one of the major CRF projects. The project, which included the beautification of both squares, a flyover, and a railway underbridge, was approved for Rs 234.21 crore. A 4,000 capacity spectator gallery at Futala Lake, one of Gadkari's dream projects, is also being built with CRF funds worth Rs 112.89 crore. A vehicle parking plaza would be built on this site. Another major project is the widening of busy roads in market areas such as Gandhi Putla, Kelibagh, and Tulsi Bagh, which runs for 3.30 km and passes through Reshimbagh Square. The project, which is currently in progress and has a deadline of 27 February 2022, has been allocated Rs 58.69 crore. From the Rs, 70 crore received under the CRF, the highly congested Old Bhandara Road, which stretches for 4.30 km, will be widened. Although the tender was finalised, the work could not begin because the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has yet to provide additional land for the project's expansion.
