The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) is planning to spend Rs 1.99 crore on a road patcher machine. The proposal by the hotmix plant was presented before the standing committee meeting on Tuesday. Sources told the media that NMC had never audited the patchwork done earlier with a patcher machine. In 2019, NMC hired a patcher machine so that the work can be done even in rains. The patcher technology was supposed to fix the potholes quickly. The materials for repairing the potholes were available in readymade bags, set into the potholes, and compressed with the machine. This technology was to fix the potholes for at least a year, but the material hardly remained fixed for a week. The potholes repaired during the rainy season failed to last for a couple of days. The NMC's hotmix and jet patcher machine are also being used to repair the potholes. Over 2,234 potholes were repaired in the first two months of this financial year. The committee also decided on appointing a new mobile network agency. The civic body will spend Rs 50 lakh per annum on this, the general administration department stated. The health department also proposed to shortlist a firm to set up 12 small sewage treatment plants, which will be presented for the panel's approval. NMC will spend Rs 1.14 crore on it.
