The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) and the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) will jointly initiate the demarcation process of the proposed 45-km northern Ring Road connecting Delhi and Agra national highways from next week.

Ravi Jain, Jaipur Development Commissioner (JDC) recently constituted a committee comprising three senior JDA engineers who will assist the NHAI team to fix the final alignment of the corridor.

The committee will coordinate with NHAI officials and apprise them about major roads which are falling on the route alignment and earmarked in the Master Plan 2025. This will lead to a meticulous planning and the joint committee can propose underpasses or overbridge, if required, so that over-lapping of Ring Road with major sector roads can be avoided.

NHAI will construct the transport corridor of the northern Ring Road project which will be jointly constructed with the state government. The NHAI will bear the acquisition and construction cost of the land for building the transport corridor. The chief secretary has also mentioned the same in the recent letter.

Out of 360-metre-wide Ring Road, the NHAI will construct a 70-metre transport corridor, while the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) will construct a 135-metre development corridor on either side of the Ring Road.

The project cost is pegged at Rs 2,887 crore. The Ring Road project will consist of a six-lane access-controlled expressway and a three-lane service road on both sides.

The northern corridor will also be developed on the lines of the 47km southern corridor (Agra Road to Ajmer Road).
