NHAI gives toll collection contract to PATH

The Pioneer in its February 14 edition published a news "Encroachment on the service road on Indore Dewas road", a 45.05 km long six-lane road starting from Rau square to Dewas and forming a part of the Agra Bombay national highway along with the contract of maintenance as well as toll collection was done by Gayatri Highways.

Pertaining to bad condition and encroachment on this service road currently running parallel to the six-lane express road on the two sides.

The residents of several colonies and the students of schools and colleges located near the six-lane road are forced to move on the expressway since the service road is in poor condition and unserviceable.

According to the latest development, a few days back the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) terminated the contract of Gayatri Highways, a toll operator company, and gave the toll collection contract to PATH Company for initial three months. The PATH company would pay around 25 lakh daily as tax to the NHAI Government of India.

In return, NHAI would directly maintain the Rau Dewas six-lane which includes the maintenance of service roads. The service roads on both sides will be transferred to the Indore municipal corporation for maintenance purposes in the future.
