The recently inaugurated toll plaza at Parali Pudur along the Madurai-Natham four-way road is implemented by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). A growing number of drivers originating from the northern region of Madurai city are utilising the newly constructed 7.3 km flyover from the Vishaal De Mall intersection to quickly reach Oomachikulam and Natham. Previously, vehicles heading to Tiruchi from the northern side of Madurai followed a route passing through MGR Bus Stand, HC Bench campus, Chittampatti toll plaza, Karungalakudi, Kottampatti, and Thuvarankurichi. However, since the opening of the Natham highway by NHAI, a significant volume of traffic now opts for this route, reaching Thuvarankurichi efficiently. To enhance safety on the stretch, a high-mast lamp has been installed near the new toll plaza, and two ambulances will be stationed to address any emergencies. The toll plaza will be staffed 24x7, with a specific provision for Fastag-equipped vehicles. The toll charges for cars bound for Tiruchi are set at Rs 180, with a return fee of Rs 270 within 24 hours. Buses are required to pay Rs 605 for one-way passage and Rs 905 for a return trip within 24 hours. Mini vans face toll fees of Rs 290 for a one-way journey and Rs 435 for a return. NHAI officials have outlined that residents within a 20 km radius from the toll plaza can obtain a monthly car pass for Rs 330 by presenting their vehicle RCs and Aadhar cards. Located 17 km from Madurai and 18 km from Natham in Dindigul district, the toll plaza serves as a crucial point in the region's transportation network.
