The Ring Road construction project has been started by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), and the road construction project is expected to be completed by October 2023. The Ring Road (RR) or the Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II) project in Delhi is crucial for reducing traffic congestion in New Delhi. The project will require an investment of Rs 7,715 crore, and the road will cross through 25 villages in Delhi. The National Highways (NHs) 1, 2, 8 and 10 will be connected by this stretch spread across a 75.71 km long project and connects north, northwest Delhi, Gurugram and the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport. The NHAI will be responsible for the transplantation of around 4,000 trees, which will be affected by this road project. The officials of NHAI have asked for land space from the Delhi Development Authority (DDA). In 2020, the RR project in Delhi was first envisioned, but the work could not start due to several roadblocks, which have now been removed. According to an official, the road project's pre-construction activities started back in November, and the work will be carried out at a fast pace, having all necessary permissions.
