NHAI to Relocate Kherki Daula Toll Near KMP Expressway

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has confirmed that the Kherki Daula toll plaza will be relocated to Pachgaon within the next six months. Following approval from the Union transport and highways ministry, a joint team comprising officials from NHAI and the Indian Highways Management Corporation (IHMCL) inspected the site and decided to construct a 12-lane toll plaza. The toll collection will be facilitated through a global satellite navigation system.
The new toll plaza will be set up in the revenue estate of Kukdola village, approximately 13 km from the existing Kherki Daula plaza and about 1 km beyond the intersection of the KMP Expressway and Delhi-Jaipur highway on the Gurugram side.
The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has begun the process of handing over 28 acres of land to NHAI for this purpose. A site visit was conducted by a joint team led by senior officials from IHMCL and NHAI, during which it was decided that the new plaza would feature six lanes on each side. Since toll collection will be satellite-based, fewer lanes will be required. The design process for the toll plaza is expected to commence shortly, with efforts underway to complete the relocation within the planned timeframe.
A feasibility survey by NHAI projects an increase in toll revenue once the Pachgaon plaza becomes operational. While the number of vehicles expected to use the new plaza is slightly lower鈥攅stimated at around 40,000 per day compared to the current 44,000 at Kherki Daula鈥攁n anticipated rise in light commercial vehicles (LCVs) is likely to drive up daily collections from Rs 4.9 million to about Rs 5.3 million.
The decision to shift the toll plaza dates back to 2016, when it was first announced by the Union transport minister. Although the initial plan was to move it to Sehrawan near Manesar, environmental objections led to its cancellation. Subsequently, over 30 acres of land were identified at Pachgaon, and after prolonged legal proceedings, the state government secured the land. The GMDA took possession of it in 2023, but the handover to NHAI was delayed due to pending approval from the central ministry. The GMDA has now initiated the formal handover process to enable the start of construction.
