Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked a significant milestone in India's infrastructure development today as he inaugurated the Sudarshan Setu, the country's longest cable-stayed bridge. The bridge, built at a cost of approximately Rs. 980 crores, spans a distance of 2.32 kilometers, connecting the Okha mainland to Beyt Dwarka island in Gujarat. In a social media post on X, PM Modi hailed the completion of the Sudarshan Setu, describing it as a marvel of engineering and a testament to India's progress in infrastructure development. The Sudarshan Setu stands out not only for its length but also for its unique design features. Adorned with verses from the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita and images of Lord Krishna, the bridge serves as a spiritual and cultural landmark for devotees and visitors alike. Additionally, solar panels installed on the upper portions of the footpath contribute to sustainable energy generation, producing one megawatt of electricity. One of the primary benefits of the Sudarshan Setu is its contribution to enhancing connectivity and accessibility for pilgrims and tourists visiting the holy sites of Dwarka and Beyt Dwarka. Previously, travelers had to rely on boat transport to reach Beyt Dwarka, leading to time-consuming and sometimes challenging journeys. With the inauguration of the bridge, transportation has been streamlined, significantly reducing travel time and improving convenience for visitors. Accompanying Prime Minister Modi at the inauguration ceremony were prominent dignitaries including the Governor of Gujarat, Shri Acharya Devvrat, Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel, and Member of Parliament Shri C R Patil.
