PMRDA approves budget for land acquisition of Inner Ring Road

The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has recently approved a budget of Rs207 crore to initiate the land acquisition process for the first phase of the proposed 82km inner ring road. This road is intended to connect Solu to Wadgaon Shinde and will greatly enhance transportation infrastructure in the area.

According to a PMRDA official, the first phase of the project will encompass a 5km stretch, requiring the acquisition of approximately 28 hectares of land from Solu, Nirgudi, and Wadgaon Shinde villages. Eknath Shinde, the Chief Minister and Chairman of the authority has given his clearance to a total budget of Rs 14,200 crore for the construction of the entire 82 km inner ring road.

To initiate the land acquisition process for the first phase, the PMRDA has submitted a proposal to the Pune district collector’s office. The proposal identifies Solu (approximately 13 hectares), Nirgudi (approximately 9 hectares), and Wadgaon Shinde (approximately 6 hectares) as the areas requiring land acquisition.

The PMRDA official stated that land acquisition would be carried out through direct purchase or compulsory acquisition, exploring all available options to expedite the process. Additionally, a land acquisition officer will conduct a survey as part of the proceedings.

In its initial phase, the inner ring road will establish crucial connections between Nagar Road and Mumbai Expressway, as well as Solapur Road with Satara Road.
