Port-Maduravoyal project to be awarded by March '23

The work contract for the Chennai Port-Maduraivoyal two-tier elevated road project will be awarded by March of next year, according to the union minister of Road Transport and Highways in Parliament. In response to a question from DMK MP TR Baalu, the union minister stated that bids for the project have been invited and that it is expected to be awarded by March 2023. Following the award, work will begin. Gadkari stated that the elevated road project is part of the PM Gati-Shakti National Master Plan and that it is expected to be completed in 30 months.

The two-tier elevated highway is 20.565 km long and has been divided into four packages, with a total estimated cost of Rs. 56.11 billion, according to the minister. In July of this year, the National Highways Authority of India invited bids for the construction of the two-tiered four-lane elevated corridor. The elevated road would be a double-tier between Port and Koyambedu, with seven entries and exits for non-port vehicles.
