Shastripuram ROB Construction Enters Final Phase in Hyderabad

Construction of the 490-metre road overbridge (ROB) at Shastripuram in Hyderabad has entered its final phase, with 90 per cent of civil works completed, according to Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) officials. The project, launched in 2022 with a sanctioned cost of Rs 710 million, is expected to reduce severe congestion caused by the Uddamgadda level-crossing.

The ROB connects key areas such as Shastripuram, Vattepally, Kattedan and Bandlaguda, and provides vital access to National Highway 44, the PV Narasimha Rao Expressway, and Rajiv Gandhi International Airport. The GHMC has completed approach roads, while South Central Railway is finalising its 37.5-metre portion of the bridge by installing steel girders. Once handed over, GHMC expects to finish remaining works within six weeks, targeting an August opening.

So far, the town planning department has taken possession of 115 properties for the project, with 14 properties still under legal review. Officials expect the ROB to eliminate peak-hour traffic queues and significantly reduce detour distances for local commuters.
