Six-lane National highway in Kerala to be ready by 2025

On Wednesday PWD minister was inaugurating the 37.9 km road between Nedumangad Pazhakutti and Ponmudi hill station, Tholikode, Thiruvananthapuram.

He said that along with the development of national highways, the Kerala dream projects, the Coastal Highway, and the Hill Highway would be completed on time.

He said that the state-of-the-art road to Ponmudi, which is a major hill station in the state, will give a new impetus to the tourism sector. He added that some of the unhealthy tendencies currently destroying our roads with the weather are due to some contractors and employees. Contractors and employees must ensure that the entire amount that has been allocated for road development is used effectively.

He also spoke about how incentives would be given to contractors who execute the construction on time and with efficiency. The government considers rewarding well-performing officials.

The minister said that strict action will be taken against contractors and employees showcasing negligence. The Nedumangad- Ponmudi road is constructed under the Rebuild Kerala Initiative package that has been implemented by the state government to rehabilitate roads damaged by heavy rain and floods in 2018.
