Uttarakhand has requested for approval from the centre to build a double lane tunnel between Dehradun and Tehri. Pushkar Singh Dhami requested approval from ÑDz©ÌåÓý¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³ Minister Amita Shah for the construction of a double-lane tunnel from Dehradun to Tehri Lake, as the Mussoorie-Chamba Koti Colony motor road currently covers a total distance of 105 km to reach Tehri Lake from Dehradun, Uttarakhand's capital. It takes about three and a half hours as the entire route is in a mountainous area. If a 35 km tunnel is built between the two points, the journey will take only one hour. ÑDz©ÌåÓý¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³ Minister Amit Shah assured that the project would be approved soon, and Chief Minister Dhami expressed gratitude to the ÑDz©ÌåÓý¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³ Minister. The estimated cost of the tunnel's construction is 8,750 crore. The construction of the tunnel between Dehradun and Tehri Lake will not only make the journey easier but will also boost tourism. Principal Secretary PWD RK Sudhanshu told the media that the tunnel is proposed near Rajpur in Dehradun, which is Tehri, and only the initial blueprint of the plan has been prepared. A detailed survey will be conducted after which the actual distance of the tunnel from Dehradun and Tehri will be known. It will come to a close near the lake at Koti Colony. The tunnel will be about 35 km long in total. At the same time, it will take only about 60 minutes to travel to Tehri Lake after the tunnel is completed.
