The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (Yeida) announced on that they had initiated the process of constructing a pod taxi link worth Rs 6.3 billion under the personal rapid transport project. They stated that the pod taxi link would connect Jewar Airport to the proposed Film City near Greater Noida along the Yamuna Expressway. Yeida expressed their intention to provide multimodal connectivity from Jewar to cities such as Delhi, Noida, and Greater Noida. They decided to award a 35-year concession period to the successful bidder who would be responsible for building, operating, and maintaining the Pod Taxi project. According to the request for proposal (RFP), the concessioner would operate for 33 years. As per the project's terms, it would be built on a build, operate, and transfer basis, meaning that a private player would construct the project and then transfer it back to the authority after 35 years. Arun Vir Singh, the chief executive officer of Yeida, stated, We will finalise the company in the next two to three months following procedures, as we have issued a tender for this project. The project aims to enhance connectivity from Noida airport to the proposed Film City project at sector 21 along the Yamuna Expressway. In March 2023, the Indian Port Rail and Ropeway Corporation Limited informed Yeida about the pod taxi projects in South Korea, London, and Abu Dhabi. Subsequently, Yeida approved the bid document and detailed project report, which also received approval from the state government, thereby paving the way for the issuance of the project's tender. According to the final detailed project report (DPR), the 12km route connecting the two mega projects in the Yeida area would encompass 12 stations. These stations include Film City, Rabupura village, Sector 34, the junction of sectors 28 and 33, Toy Park, the intersection of sectors 29 and 32 on a 100m wide road, Apparel Park, Sector 29, the junction of sectors 29 and 32 on a 75m wide road, MSME Park, and Handicraft Park. Officials anticipate completing the pod taxi project by 2024 when the first phase of the Jewar airport is scheduled to become operational.
