2,000-tonne stainless steel by JSL for Kanpur Metro Project

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 9 km long stretch of the Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation- UPMRC for the Kanpur Metro Project that has been completed. 2,000 tonnes of stainless steel for the metro project have been supplied by Jindal Stainless Limited- JSL. High-quality stainless steel in different tempers or strength levels were supplied to Alstom by Jindal Stainless. On September 18, 2021, the first train was handed to UPMRC by Alstom.

Jindal Stainless Limited said it supplied 2,000-tonne steel for the Kanpur Metro Project and was inaugurated by PM Narendra Modi in the last week. The PM carried out an inspection of the Kanpur Metro Rail Project as well as a metro ride between the IIT metro station and Geeta Nagar on December 28.

The company statement stated that the 9 km long completed stretch was inaugurated by the PM of the Kanpur Metro Project.

High-quality stainless steel in different tempers or strength levels had been supplied to Alstom by Jindal Stainless. On September 18, 2021, UPMRC had been handed over the first train set by Alstom.

The metro project comprises the design and development of a total of 201 coaches. Every coach has a requirement of about 9 to 10 metric tonne of stainless steel.

Stainless steel has been further provided for metro projects located in Sydney and Queensland.
