The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is likely to choose from three firms for the civil construction work of much-awaited Metro Line 12. The firms that have submitted their bids for the project are Gawar Constructions, J Kumar Infraprojects and Welspun Enterprises. The Metro Line 12, which will run between Kalyan and Taloja, is a 20-km-long fully elevated metro corridor with 19 stations. The stations covered are Klayan, APMC Kalyan, Ganesh Nagar, Pisavali Gaon, Golavali, Dombivali MIDC, Sagaon, Sonarpada, Manpada, , Hedutane, Kolegaon, Nilje Gaon, Vadavali, Bale, Vaklan, Turbhe, Pisarve Depot, Pisarve, and Amandoot (Taloja). It was in December 2023 that the MMRDA had invited tenders worth Rs 1,877 crore for part-design and construction of the elevated viaduct and 19 stations, with a completion time of 30 months. As part of plan to create an inter-connected network, the Kalyan Taloja Metro Line 12 is set to feature interchange stations with Metro Line 5 at APMC Kalyan, as well as with Navi Mumbai Metro Line 01 at Taloja. The Rs 8,416 crore Metro Line-5, spanning 24.9 kilometres and linking Thane to Kalyan through Bhiwandi, comprises a 15-station elevated corridor. Presently under construction, it is anticipated to commence commercial operations by 2025.
