APM Terminals Pipavav receives the first train from Morbi

Maersk will now run the rail service which connects the ceramics exporters in Morbi through Maliya to Port Pipavav once every ten days and assist the shippers to connect to the Gulf, African, and European markets.

APM Terminals Pipavav has a strategic location, strengthening itself as the port of preference to connect exporters across the varied belts of India. APM Terminals Pipavav received the new rail service commenced by Maersk and operated by PRCL connecting the exporters from the ceramics heartland of Morbi through a Private Freight Terminal at Maliya.

The rail service resulted from the collaboration of the three crucial stakeholders, Maersk with its ocean and landside transportation expertise APM Terminals Pipavav having a strategic location as well as a preferred partner with superb connectivity and productivity, and PRCL as an efficient rail partner.

The export cargo being moved on a rail service is assisting in decongesting roads and improving the speed-to-market by a reduction in the total transit time by 15%.

APM Terminals Pipavav Managing Director, Mr Jakob Friis Sorensen said that they are completely committed to support and strengthen the logistics and supply chains ecosystem within their strategic location proving to be the ideal gateway that connects the hinterland to ocean transportation network. The rail service further improves schedule reliability in comparison with road transportation, helping the exporters connect to their preferred ocean service avoiding any delays.
