Elevated Foot Overbridge Coming Up at Delhi Metro's Pitampura Station

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is working to improve connectivity at Pitampura Metro Station as part of its ongoing Phase 4 expansion. A new elevated foot overbridge (FOB) is currently under construction to link the upcoming Janakpuri West鈥揜K Ashram Marg corridor with the existing Red Line at Pitampura.

Spanning 180 meters, the FOB will enable a seamless interchange between the two metro lines, offering commuters a direct and convenient connection. Supported by five sturdy pillars, the structure is designed with commuter safety and stability in mind. The concourse level of the new station is being elevated 16.7 meters above ground to ensure smooth integration with the existing Red Line platform. The Janakpuri West鈥揜K Ashram Marg corridor, which extends the Magenta Line, aims to strengthen connectivity across various parts of Delhi. The elevated stretch near Pitampura also includes a 50-meter-long steel span, assembled using a modular construction method to avoid disruption to on-going metro operations.

DMRC has emphasised that this complex engineering project reflects its dedication to expanding the network without compromising daily operations. The addition of the elevated FOB at Pitampura is anticipated to significantly enhance the commuting experience by shortening transfer times and allowing easy movement between metro lines. This development supports DMRC鈥檚 larger vision of promoting urban mobility and advancing sustainable transportation in the city.

As the Phase 4 expansion moves forward, the near completion of the Pitampura FOB represents an important milestone in building a more integrated and efficient metro system that meets the growing transportation demands of Delhi's population.
