Delhi-Meerut RRTS Nears Completion for June Launch
The Delhi-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS), branded as Namo Bharat, is nearing full completion and is expected to be almost fully operational by June 2025. The 82-kilometre corridor, developed by the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC), aims to reduce travel time between Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi and Modipuram in Meerut to just 45 minutes. Currently, a 55-kilometre stretch with 11 stations is operational, while work on the remaining 27 kilometres is progressing rapidly. The corridor has already served over 10 million passengers since its partial launch in October 2023.

Southern Railway is accelerating infrastructure upgrades across Thiruvananthapuram, focusing on enhancing passenger experience and operational efficiency. Key developments include transforming Thiruvananthapuram North into a terminal station with new facilities, lifts, and shelters, expected to complete by next month. Neyyattinkara station's redevelopment is progressing swiftly, aiming for completion by August 2025. Thiruvananthapuram Central is undergoing significant upgrades, including a new passenger concourse, slated for completion within two years. Additional improvements at Kazhakkoottam, Pettah, Balaramapuram, Amaravila, Dhanuvachapuram, and Parassala stations aim to alleviate congestion and enhance connectivity, particularly in anticipation of increased traffic from the upcoming Vizhinjam port.

The blueprint for Pune Railway Station's yard remodelling has been finalised, with major construction set to commence between February and March 2026. The project includes adding two new platforms and extending four existing ones to accommodate longer trains. To minimize disruption, Hadapsar and Khadki stations will serve as alternative terminals during construction. The initiative aims to enhance operational efficiency and passenger convenience at this key transit hub.

Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train Achieves 300 km Viaduct Milestone
India's first bullet train project, the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Corridor, has achieved a significant milestone with the completion of 300 km of viaducts out of the total 508 km route. The National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) reported that 257.4 km were constructed using the Full Span Launching Method (FSLM), which accelerates construction by enabling the erection of full-span girders up to 10 times faster than traditional methods. Additionally, 37.8 km were built using the Span-by-Span (SBS) method. The project also includes the construction of 14 river bridges, steel and prestressed concrete bridges, and station structures. With substantial progress in pier construction, foundations, and girder casting, the project is on track for partial operations in Gujarat by 2028, aiming to reduce travel time between Mumbai and Ahmedabad to under three hours.
