Hyderabad Metro Phase 2B DPRs Finalised for Rs 196 Billion

Hyderabad Airport Metro Limited (HAML) has finalised Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for the proposed Phase 2B of the Hyderabad Metro Rail project, covering 86.1 kilometres across three corridors with an estimated cost of Rs 195.79 billion.

Approved by the HAML Board on 8 May 2025 and currently under state government review, the DPRs cover the JBS–Medchal, JBS–Shameerpet, and RGIA–Future City metro routes. According to HAML Managing Director N.V.S. Reddy, the JBS–Medchal corridor will be 24.5 km long with 18 elevated stations, while the JBS–Shameerpet line will run 22 km with 14 stations1.65 km of which will be underground near the Hakimpet Air Force Station.

The RGIA–Future City (Skill University) line is planned as a 39.6 km mix of underground (1.5 km), elevated (21 km), and at-grade (17 km) track connecting the international airport at Shamshabad to Skills University via Pedda Golconda and Raviryala ORR exits.

Reddy stated that the DPRs have been drafted in line with central government guidelines, metro construction benchmarks from other states, and the traffic needs of the capital region. Finalised details will be shared once the state government grants approval and forwards the proposal to the Centre.

The proposed expansion aims to enhance urban connectivity and transform the JBS region into an international transit hub, aligning with the vision of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.
