Kochi water metro services to start in September

Water Metro services will start in September after Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) received two additional boats from the Cochin Shipyard.

The boats will go through a month of rigorous technical trials before being put into service.

A KMRL official claims that four electric hybrid boats have already been delivered, and a fifth is on its way.

For the water metro project, a total of 23 electrically driven rapid hybrid boats with a 100-passenger capacity are being constructed at the Cochin Shipyard.

15 routes linking 10 islands over a distance of 76 km have been selected for the Rs 7.47 billion water metro project.
