Kolkata Metro Introduces Two New Dalian Rakes on Blue Line

Kolkata Metro has bolstered its Blue Line operations by introducing two new Dalian rakes, MR-504 and MR-512, enhancing passenger convenience and operational efficiency. With this addition, the total number of Dalian rakes in the Kolkata Metro network has now reached five.
Before their commercial rollout, both rakes underwent rigorous inspections by the Electrical Inspector to the Government (EIG) on 27 March 2025, ensuring compliance with the Central Electricity Authority (CEA) Regulation 2010 for electrical safety.
Maiden Journeys and Service Timings
The two rakes commenced their inaugural runs from Noapara station, with MR-504 departing at 11:58 AM and MR-512 at 12:35 PM. They reached Kavi Subhash Metro station at 12:56 PM and 1:39 PM, respectively. On their return journeys, MR-504 departed Kavi Subhash at 1:01 PM, arriving at Dakshineswar at 2:05 PM, while MR-512 left at 1:41 PM and reached Dakshineswar at 2:45 PM.
Upgraded Features for a Better Commuting Experience
Designed with advanced technology and passenger comfort in mind, these state-of-the-art rakes boast several enhancements:
Wider Doors 鈥� 100 mm wider than existing AC rakes, facilitating smoother passenger movement during peak hours.
Improved Seating Capacity 鈥� Additional seats for senior citizens and differently-abled passengers.
Enhanced Air Conditioning & Noise Reduction 鈥� Offering a quieter and more comfortable ride.
Advanced Security Features 鈥� Full CCTV coverage, a modern alarm system with an external indication lamp, and brighter multilingual digital display boards.
Accessibility Enhancements 鈥� Modular and wider vestibules, wheelchair parking spaces, and door-side handrails for added convenience.
Eco-Friendly and Safety-Centric Design
From a technical standpoint, these rakes feature:
Paint-free stainless steel body for improved durability.
Energy-efficient design, reducing environmental impact.
Advanced braking system 鈥� Disc brakes for enhanced stopping power.
Controlled discharge fire extinguishers with straps for onboard safety.
Wider evacuation door and an evacuation ramp with anti-skid rubber flooring for safer emergency exits.
Dedicated rainwater drainage system, preventing water accumulation.
Strengthening Kolkata Metro鈥檚 Fleet
With the addition of MR-504 and MR-512, Kolkata Metro now operates:
31 rakes on the Blue Line,
3 rakes on the Orange Line,
2 rakes on the Purple Line,
14 rakes on the Green Line.
