Kolkata Metro starts trials on Noapara-Dum Dum route

The information regarding a trial run conducted between the Noapara and Dumdum Cantonment Metro stations (Yellow line) was shared by Metro Railway Kolkata via a tweet. It was mentioned that the trial run took place for the first time on March 24 at 18:18 hrs. It was reported that the designated trial rake completed two round trips in the presence of top Metro officials, ensuring operational standards and safety protocols.

The trial run had achieved a speed of 74km/h.

Regarding the project and its challenges, it was stated that the Metro Railway Kolkata had decided to extend its service from Dum Dum to Noapara, covering a length of 2.091 kms of metro line on 10th July 2013. It was further mentioned that the construction contract for building a viaduct between Kestopur Khal (Canal) and the pre-existing ramp of the former Circular Railway?s viaduct was awarded to Senbo Engineering at Rs 1.27 billion in June 2011.

The project encountered various obstacles, including issues related to land acquisitions along the canal?s path and encroachments.

The primary purpose of conducting the journey by a Medha train in Kolkata was mentioned to validate the Schedule of Dimensions clearances, specifying the maximum height, width, and other dimensions for trains to ensure their safe passage through tunnels, bridges, platforms, and other infrastructure. It was aimed at observing how the train interacted with the surrounding civil structures, ensuring the absence of any physical obstructions along the route.

Regarding the InnoMetro, the flagship Expo and Conference, it was encouraged for individuals to discover the endless possibilities of the city?s Metro and become active participants in shaping its future towards a more sustainable tomorrow. It was emphasized to stay informed and join the initiative to take a step towards a brighter future.
