L&T bags 31.41 bn contract for MAHSR bullet train project

NHSRCL (National High Speed Rail Corporation) has awarded the second contract for the Design, Supply and Construction of Track and Track related works to L&T for the 508-km Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail corridor. The package awarded is the MAHSR T-3 Package for the Double Line High Speed Railway between Vadodara and Sabarmati Depot and Workshop in the state of Gujarat. The total approximate cost of the contract is Rs. 31.41 billion.

India's first High Speed Bullet train project will display the ballast-less slab track system that was used in the Japanese HSR. The detailed design and drawings of the major HSR track components like RC Track bed, Track slab arrangement and continuous welded rail (CWS) forces have been provided by the Japan Railway Track Consultant (JRTC).

Priorly, the first contract for track works between Vapi and Vadodara was awaeded to IRCON in December 2021.聽

With this contract, NHSRCL has awarded 100 per cent of the civil and track work for the entire 352-km span of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail section in Gujarat.聽

These projects stand to boost the Make In India initiative since both projects have been awarded to Indian companies.聽
