MMRDA to connect Ram Mandir railway station to Goregaon metro station

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) plans to connect Ram Mandir railway station in the western suburbs with the upcoming Goregaon East (E) metro station on line 7 in Mumbai.

MMRDA Commissioner SVR Srinivas told the media that the existing Ram Mandir railway station and the upcoming Goregaon (E) metro station on line 7 can be connected through a foot-over-bridge (FOB).

He further added that metro line 7 is connecting the existing metro line one, Ghatkopar to Versova to benefit commuters. FOB is already there at these railway stations, and one more FOB from Goregaon (E) metro station needs to be built connecting both the points.

According to the Reliance Infra led Mumbai Metro One Pvt Limited (MMOPL) Sources, in the pre-covid period both Ghatkopar and Andheri metro stations used to draw over one lakh ridership. Around 90% to 80% of commuters used to come from the railways.

The MMRDA had started the trial run on a 20 km stretch between Dahanukar Wadi and Aarey on both metro lines 7 and 2A. These two metro lines are estimated to begin commercial operations fully by January next year.
