Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated the redeveloped Bundi Railway Station in Rajasthan today as part of the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, during a ceremony held in Bikaner. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla attended the event in Bundi and thanked the Prime Minister on behalf of local residents, describing the revamped station as a testament to the seamless integration of modern infrastructure with cultural heritage.
Birla emphasised that the newly developed stations under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme are more than just upgraded travel hubs—they represent a forward-looking vision of a progressive India. He remarked that Bundi is steadily carving out a new identity, particularly in the tourism sector, with numerous projects already completed and others underway to boost its appeal.
Under Modi’s leadership, Birla noted, India’s railway network has witnessed rapid expansion and modernisation over the past 11 years. The Kota–Bundi region, in particular, has seen substantial redevelopment of major and suburban stations. The introduction of new trains and MEMU services has improved travel convenience, and the recent halt of the Vande Bharat Express at Bundi is expected to enhance tourism in the region.
He further highlighted that 14 trains now halt at key stations including Kota, Ramganj Mandi, Modak, Keshoraipatan, Bundi, Kapren, Digod, and Arnetha, significantly improving regional connectivity.
The Bundi Railway Station has been redeveloped at a cost of Rs 81.5 million, offering a blend of aesthetic design and passenger convenience. Key upgrades include a grand entrance archway, an enhanced façade, high-mast lighting, upgraded waiting rooms, modern ticketing facilities, hygienic restrooms, and accessible ramps for persons with disabilities. The station has been made fully accessible, ensuring a safer, more comfortable travel experience for all passengers while preserving Bundi’s architectural charm.
