PM Modi Unveils Rs 210 Billion Projects in Kanpur

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Uttar Pradesh on Friday to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for infrastructure and development projects in Kanpur valued at over Rs 210 billion. These initiatives focus on urban mobility, power supply, water reuse, and road connectivity.
A major highlight of the visit is the inauguration of the Chunniganj to Kanpur Central stretch of the Kanpur Metro Rail Project, built at a cost exceeding Rs 21 billion. Featuring 14 stations, including five underground, this section will enhance public transport and reduce city congestion.
In road infrastructure, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the widening and strengthening of the Grand Trunk Road in Kanpur, improving regional connectivity. He will also lay the foundation for a 220 kV substation in Gautam Buddh Nagar and inaugurate two 132 kV substations in Greater Noida, collectively developed at over Rs 3.2 billion, to support local power distribution.
Further bolstering energy capacity, the 660 MW Panki Thermal Power Extension Project in Kanpur will be inaugurated, developed at a cost exceeding Rs 83 billion. Additionally, three 660 MW units of the Ghatampur Thermal Power Project, built at over Rs 93.3 billion, will be opened.
The Prime Minister will also inaugurate two rail over bridges in Kanpur and a 40 MLD tertiary treatment plant at Bingawan, developed at a cost of over Rs 2.9 billion, to support wastewater recycling and sustainable urban water management.
To enhance defence and industrial logistics, he will launch road projects including the widening of Gauria Pali Marg and a new link road from Narwal Mode to the Kanpur Defence Node, furthering progress on the Uttar Pradesh Defence Corridor.
PM Modi鈥檚 visit will also include welfare measures, with the distribution of certificates and cheques under schemes like PM Ayushman Vay Vandana Yojana, PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, and the National Livelihood Mission, reaffirming the government鈥檚 inclusive development agenda.
