Pune Metro鈥檚 expansion is on track, with the 23-km route from Hinjewadi to Shivajinagar now expected to be operational by September 2025. Initially slated for completion by March 2025, the project faced delays due to election-related restrictions and VIP movements, according to reports. Despite these setbacks, officials from the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) confirmed that work is progressing at full speed, with a revised deadline set for the end of September. This new route will significantly improve connectivity, providing a direct link to Hinjewadi Infotech Park, one of Pune鈥檚 largest employment hubs. Maharashtra鈥檚 Deputy Chief Minister, Ajit Pawar, has urged authorities to speed up the project, while Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis is set to review its progress. Additionally, the PMRDA is constructing a flyover along Ganeshkhind Road to further enhance the region鈥檚 connectivity. This project is part of Pune Metro鈥檚 broader expansion. Phase 1, which includes routes from Vanaz to Ramwadi and Pimpri Chinchwad to Swargate (spanning 33 km), is already operational, with two sections having opened in 2024. Further extensions are underway, including a 9-km stretch from PCMC to Nigdi and Swargate to Katraj, set for completion in 2025. Discussions are also in progress for new extensions, including Ramwadi to Wagholi, Chandni Chowk to Vanaz, and Khadakwasla to Kharadi.
