Pune Metro Line 3 Completion Delayed to April 2025

The 23-km Pune Metro Line 3, connecting Maan to Shivajinagar, is now expected to be completed by late next year. The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has announced that the integrated flyover, a crucial element of the corridor, is likely to be ready by April 2025. Initially planned for completion in November this year and later extended to December, the flyover鈥檚 construction has faced delays due to pending permissions and construction hurdles. 鈥淭he ramp and deck slab construction is yet to be completed. Additionally, certain stretches still require permissions, so the 1.7-km flyover will likely be finished only by April 2025,鈥 said a PMRDA official. The integrated flyover is critical for the operational readiness of the metro line, with officials confirming that services cannot commence without its completion. While construction along the entire metro corridor is progressing, it is expected to be finalized only by the end of 2025 Heavy traffic along the busy corridor has significantly impacted the pace of work. Delays have also stemmed from the need for multiple clearances, including right-of-way permissions and shifting of utility lines. Despite regular review meetings, these issues have slowed progress. The government had previously instructed the PMRDA concessionaire, Pune IT City Metro Rail Limited (PITCMRL), to prioritize completing the flyover from Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) to E Square Junction by November this year. However, this deadline has now been extended to April 2025. The Pune Metro Line 3 project remains a significant initiative to ease urban traffic congestion, and PMRDA assures that efforts are ongoing to expedite the work despite the setbacks.
