Railways to add two more lines on DDU-Kiul route

The railways has decided to build third and fourth lines on the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya (DDU)-Patna-Kiul mainline route, which falls under the Danapur division of the East Central Railway (ECR). These new lines aim to enhance traffic operations within the division. Danapur ADRM Aadhar Raj mentioned that a master plan had been created to boost the operational capacity of mail, express, and other passenger trains that use this mainline route daily. Raj indicated that the Railway Board approved Rs 70.80 million for a survey and feasibility report for the additional lines.

A technical team has been assigned to complete the final location survey (FLS) work as soon as possible. Approximately 30% of the FLS work is already done, and the final work is projected to be completed by the end of this year. He added that over 260 pairs of passenger trains, including commuter ones, run on this route daily. To manage the growing traffic load each year, the railways has planned to construct two additional lines over a 390 km stretch.

Additionally, Indian Railways has announced the introduction of 2,000 extra trains on routes popular with migrant workers. These trains will run from Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and West Bengal to key job locations. The fare for these trains will be similar to that of regular express trains. As part of the government?s initiative, 10,000 non-AC coaches and additional seating in specific trains will also be provided.
