The Railway Board has given its nod to two crucial infrastructure projects valued at approximately INR 12 crore for Odisha, aimed at enhancing passenger services and operational efficiency. These projects will be implemented at the Sambalpur and Balasore railway stations in the state.The first project involves the development of a state-of-the-art quick watering system at Sambalpur city railway station, with an estimated cost of INR 5.43 crore. This innovative system is designed to expedite the process of supplying water to passenger train coaches, not only ensuring a rapid supply but also minimizing water wastage. Under this system, a 24-coach train can be fully replenished with water in just five minutes, a substantial improvement compared to the conventional method, which typically takes around 20 minutes. Currently, Sambalpur station lacks such a facility.The implementation of the quick watering system is expected to significantly benefit passengers traveling along the Bilaspur-Bhubaneswar route, offering them quicker and more efficient services.In parallel, a drainage system project has been sanctioned for Balasore station at an estimated cost of INR 6.49 crore. This initiative will address drainage issues and ensure the proper management of rainwater at the station. An effective drainage system is essential to prevent flooding during monsoon seasons and maintain the safety and convenience of passengers.The approval of these infrastructure projects underscores Indian Railways' commitment to improving the railway network and enhancing passenger experiences across the country. These developments are poised to make travel more efficient and comfortable for passengers using Sambalpur and Balasore stations, contributing to the overall progress of rail transport in Odisha.
