Second tunnel boring machine "Tatya" starts tunnelling at Kanpur Metro

Gulermak - Sam India Builtwell officially opened the first 3.619 km of the 32.4 km Kanpur Metro Phase 1 project's underground at Bada Chauraha Station.

The rebuilt Terratec Earth Pressure Balance (EPB) machine, dubbed Tatya after Tatya Tope, was used to bore and build a section of Lucknow Metro's Line-1. It measures 6.52 metre in diametre and 120 metre in length.

Gulermak-SAM began lowering its parts into the station's launch shaft at the beginning of July.

In March 2021, the Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) awarded Gulermak - Sam India the contract for Package KNPCC-05, which has a total value of $ 3.674 million and Rs 7.69 billion. They will also construct four 215 metre long stations at Chunniganj, Naveen Market, Bada Chauraha, and Nayaganj in addition to tunnelling.
