Trial Runs Begin for Metro Rail Extension to Sachivalaya

Trial runs for the extension of the Ahmedabad-Gandhinagar Metro to Sachivalaya began recently, announced Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC). This Phase 2 expansion will offer passengers direct metro connectivity from Ahmedabad to the Sachivalaya (Secretariat) in Gandhinagar.

Phase 2 connects Ahmedabad to Gandhinagar through two corridors: the Motera Stadium-Mahatma Mandir corridor and the GNLU-GIFT City corridor. The Motera-Mahatma Mandir route, also called the Yellow Line, features 21 stations, seven of which are already operational, from Motera Stadium to Sector 1 station in Gandhinagar.

Previously, passengers traveling to Sachivalaya had to transfer at Sector 1 station to another mode of transport. With trial runs underway, this issue will soon be resolved. Upon completion of the trial runs, seven additional stations on the Yellow Line are expected to become operational within the next three months.
