Union minister Darshana Jardosh told the media that the railway line in Jammu and Kashmir, Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla, will be a game-changer for the union territory.
Joshi said that 80% of the project work had been completed, and the remaining will be completed by 2023.
Jardosh told the media that this railway project is very important for the state, the railways and PM Narendra Modi. The railway will be a game-changer for Jammu and Kashmir, and the project will be completed soon.
She further said that the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla railway project is the most ambitious in India. The railway department is working at full capacity to complete the project within the deadline.
She added that besides providing relief, the rail line is crucial for security purposes, especially in Kashmir.
The engineers of the railway are doing their best in meeting the expectations of the general and security forces, Jardosh said.
Kashmir has a challenging terrain due to its topography, but the railway department is equipped with the latest technologies and a commendable workforce, she said.
The project is challenging on mountainous routes. Many tunnels and bridges will have to be constructed to complete the project. The Minister reviewed the work progress, and it has been going at a fast pace.
Jardosh said that the project provided jobs to the people who have a land loss of 75% or above, and most of the compensation cases have been completed.
The railways aim to develop every state, and Kashmir stands high on the agenda of the centre.
Earlier, she visited the Banihal Railway Station and took stock of operations there. She probed the Tunnel-80 control room and Tunnel-144. She also inspected the Navyug Road Tunnel in Banihal.
