The union government has taken a significant step towards enhancing rail infrastructure and passenger facilities by approving the development of 21 railway stations in the state under the Amrit Bharat Station scheme, at a total cost of Rs 8.94 billion.The selected stations for this transformative initiative include Adilabad, Basara, Begumpet, Bhadrachalam Road, Gadwal, Hafizpet, Hi-Tech City, Uppuguda, Hyderabad (Nampally), Jadcherla, Jangaon, Kachiguda, Kamareddy, Karimnagar, Kazipet Junction, Khammam, Lingapally, Madhira, Mahabubabad, Mahbubnagar, Malakpet, Malkajgiri, Mancherial, Medchal, Miryalguda, Nalgonda, Nizamabad, Peddapalli, Ramagundam, Secunderabad, Shadnagar, Sri Bala Brahmeswara Jogulamba, Tandoor, Umdanagar, Vikarabad, Warangal, Yadadri, Yakutpura, and Zaheerabad.Among these stations, the Hyderabad railway station has been allocated the largest share of Rs 3.09 million (54 per cent) for its comprehensive revamp, followed by Nizamabad (Rs 533 million), Kamareddy (Rs 399 million), Mahbubnagar (Rs 399 million), and Mahabubabad (Rs 397 million).This initiative falls under the 'Amrit Bharat Stations' scheme, a nationwide effort launched by the central government to enhance station capacity and modernise railway facilities to meet the evolving needs of passengers. In Telangana, a total of 39 stations have been identified for development under this scheme. The first phase, comprising 21 stations in Telangana, is scheduled to commence on August 6, with the inauguration by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This project marks a significant step towards providing improved services and amenities to railway passengers in the state.
