Vande Bharat Train Service Between Katra and Srinagar Begins June

The Vande Bharat train service between Katra and Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir will commence commercial operations from June 7, the Northern Railway announced on Thursday. The train will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday. Following the inauguration, tickets for the service will be available for booking on the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) platform, officials confirmed.
Northern Railway said two Vande Bharat train sets will operate four trips daily between Katra and Srinagar.
The trains offer two travel classes: Chair Car (CC) and Executive Class (EC), with ticket prices set at Rs 715 and Rs 1,320 respectively.
The first train departs Katra at 8:10 am and arrives in Srinagar at 11:08 am. It returns from Srinagar at 2 pm, reaching Katra by 4:58 pm. This service will not run on Tuesdays.
The second train departs Katra at 2:55 pm and arrives in Srinagar at 5:53 pm. It makes the return journey from Srinagar at 8 am the following day and will not operate on Wednesdays.
During the approximately three-hour journey, the trains will initially stop only at Banihal, with additional stops expected to be added later.
