Traffic improves due to direct calling of mainline vessels

The container cargo handling at New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT) has increased due to  direct calling of mainline vessels. In the first nine months of 2012-13, container handling at the port recorded a growth of 3.26 per cent. The direct calling of the mainline vessel helps reduce transit time and handling cost.
