ICG Inaugurates New Jetty at Vizhinjam Harbour

The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) Director General Paramesh Sivamani inaugurated a new dedicated jetty at Vizhinjam Harbour, Kerala, on 7 June 2025. The 76.7-metre state-of-the-art berth will enhance the ICG鈥檚 operational efficiency by enabling quicker deployment and turnaround of its vessels for missions including coastal surveillance, search and rescue, anti-smuggling operations, and fisheries protection.

Strategically situated just 10 nautical miles from key international shipping lanes and next to the Vizhinjam International Transshipment Deepwater Port, the new facility is poised to play a crucial role in securing India's southwestern maritime border.
