India Completes Refit of MNDF Huravee to Boost Defence Ties

In line with India鈥檚 鈥楴eighbourhood First鈥� policy and its regional maritime vision of Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth for All in the Region (MAHASAGAR), the Indian Navy has successfully completed a major refit of the Maldivian Coast Guard Ship MNDF Huravee at the Naval Dockyard in Mumbai.

Following the completion of its maiden normal refit, the ship departed for the Maldives on 21 April. Since its arrival in Mumbai on 13 November 2024, extensive work has been carried out, including overhauls to its machinery, weapons systems, sensors, and crew accommodation upgrades.

After undergoing comprehensive harbour and sea trials, operational checks, safety audits and Operational Sea Training, the vessel was deemed ready for deployment.

The timely completion of the refit was made possible through the collaborative efforts of multiple Indian Navy departments and dockyard teams. The achievement exemplifies the deep-rooted diplomatic and defence relations between India and the Maldives, and reiterates India鈥檚 steadfast commitment to being a dependable regional partner.
