Kerala government-owned Keltron has announced the acquisition of three significant defence contracts, reinforcing its position as a key player in the sector. The state Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) is on track to achieve its ambitious goal of reaching a turnover of Rs1,000 crore within this fiscal year.
The contracts include orders from the Naval Science and Technological Laboratory (NSTL) in Visakhapatnam for manufacturing a flight-in-air mechanism module, from Bharat Dynamics Ltd for India鈥檚 first indigenously developed NPOL-designed torpedo power amplifier, and from Rekise Marine Pvt Ltd for producing bow and flank arrays for an autonomous underwater vessel.
"We're pleased to report that the PSU is on the path to revival. Keltron will achieve a turnover of Rs.1,000 crore this financial year. Recently, it made history by manufacturing the country鈥檚 first super capacitor as part of the government's 100-day program," stated Industries Minister P Rajeeve during a ceremony to hand over strategic defence electronics equipment manufactured by the PSU for key defence and public sector entities, including Bharat Electronics Ltd and Hindustan Shipyard Ltd.
The advanced systems provided include sonar power amplifiers, marine sonar arrays, transducer elements, submarine echo sounders, submarine cavitation meters, sonar transmitter systems, towed arrays, and active noise cancellation systems.
Additionally, Coconics, a laptop manufacturing company, is set to introduce four new models in collaboration with Keltron, with two models branded under Keltron's name.
Keltron is taking significant strides under the state government鈥檚 initiative to build an electronics ecosystem in Kerala. The Attingal Keltron Knowledge Center has begun operations, and a second center at Kazhakoottam is expected to start soon, focusing on job-oriented skill development.
The PSU also secured an Rs.80 crore order from Tirupati Smart City Corporation Ltd to implement and operate pan-city information and communication technology solutions and establish a City Operations Center (COC).
Keltron aims for a turnover of Rs.1,000 crore by 2025 and Rs.2,000 crore by 2030.
The event was attended by notable figures, including MLA Uma Thomas and key officials from various departments and organizations.
