CERT-In Report Warns of Major Cybersecurity Threats in Indian Smart Cities
A CERT-In report on 20 Indian smart cities has exposed major cybersecurity risks, including malware infections, botnet attacks, and weak network security. The study found trojans and botnets as key threats, with remote access vulnerabilities being the most common issue. Western, central, and northern cities faced trojans like Avalanche-Andromeda, while southern cities saw botnet infections. Misconfigured Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) settings also posed risks. CERT-In recommends network segmentation, stronger IoT security, real-time monitoring, and compliance with national guidelines to mitigate cyber threats in India's expanding smart city infrastructure.
